John Dougherty
The $: Dougherty, R, for County District 2
Posted: October 30, 2009

In the money race, Republican John Dougherty is in the lead for the District 2 seat in the Onondaga County Legislature.

Dougherty has raised twice as much in campaign donations as has his Democratic opponent Carol Marsh O’Connor, according to the campaign finance reports filed with the New York State Board of Elections.

The winner of the District 2 race will fill a seat without an incumbent. Bernard Kraft, a Republican, held the seat for more than 20 years. Kraft died in July.

District 2 includes the western portion of the town of Clay, the Bayberry area and the Route 57 corridor.

Election Day is Nov. 3rd. The polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.

As of Oct. 26th, Dougherty collected a total of 33 itemized contributions from committees, corporations and individual donors.

Here’s a snapshot of Dougherty’s contributions:

  • 55 percent — or $4,750 — came from three committees.
  • 29 percent — or $2,544 — came from 25 individuals.
  • 16 percent — or $1,400 — came from four corporations.
  • Dougherty received his largest contribution from the Clay Republican Committee for $2,500, and his second largest from the Kraft campaign at $1,000.

As of Oct. 26th, Dougherty has a little more than $5,000 left to spend, according to the financial disclosure reports found on the New York State Elections Web site.

So far, Dougherty has spent his money on postage, literature and printing materials.
